Since 1978, the professionals at Yessick’s Design Center have been creating fabulous functional rooms to the delight of their clients. Now, with the opening of their fourth store in the Turkey Creek shopping center in West Knoxville, the company brings their interior design talents to East Tennessee.
The new store opened in September 2005 and is staffed by six creative designers, Laura Luallen, Courtney Ibach, Sheila Hart, Julie Maner, Janet Buell, and Sarah Garren with a total combined experience of more than 50 years.
“No job is too large or too small,” said Luallen, who is also the manager of the Turkey Creek location. “We can help you with a new home from planning stages to completion or just a valance for your bathroom. You don’t have to spend thousands of dollars to work with an interior designer. I think people would be surprised at how affordable it can be.”

An interior designer can also save you money by helping you avoid costly design mistakes. If you consult a professional before you begin your remodeling job, you know it will be done right the first time.
“Our designers aren’t shy in expressing their opinions,” said Luallen. “We’ll let you know if we feel you are making a design decision that you will be unhappy with down the road. Our goal is to help you improve your home not just make a sale.”
Aside from the monetary aspect, Luallen has another theory as to why homeowners are reluctant to consult with an interior designer.
“I think people are afraid to call a designer because they think we’ll come into their home and tell them it looks bad or that they have bad taste,” said Luallen. “That would never be the case. Our goal is to help you achieve the look you want based on your likes, not decorate for our own tastes. We go out of our way to utilize your own pieces in the finished room because it should be a reflection of you not us. You should feel comfortable in your new space because you are the one that has to live with it.”
Although some of Yessick’s clients may come in for a small project, they continue to work with the firm for years to come.
“We form long-term relationships with our customers,” Luallen said, “and we realize our clients are very busy people, so we offer after hours appointments for their convenience.”
In addition to regular design options, Yessick’s has several unique services including an accessory call where they transform a room in one day with accessories.
“This requires two visits to the home,” said Luallen. “On the first visit, we look things over and get ideas. On the second trip, we incorporate new accessories. It is a fun quick way to revitalize a room.”
Something else Yessick’s offers is their relocation service. New homeowners can contact the firm and designers will go to the home and set everything up before they get there. This can help alleviate some of the stress of moving to a new home.
Yessick’s also offers a builder’s service. They will work with the homebuilder and help them select the basics for the home from finishes to fixtures. This helps the building process progress faster and more smoothly.
With the addition of the Turkey Creek location, Yessick’s is now the largest interior design team in the Southeast. They do residential, commercial and hospitality services from new construction to remodel projects.
