New Restaurant is Talk of the Town
by Wendy Jackson

Can’t decide where to go to lunch? Looking for a place to take your family for dinner? Searching for a cozy dining spot for two? Look no further than Angelos’ Brick Oven. It is one of Lenoir City’s newest and best restaurants. Offering timeless Italian recipes and a selection of favorite American foods, The Brick Oven successfully combines food and atmosphere to create a dining experience that you won’t forget.

The Brick Oven is the kind of place that could soon be your home away from home. From the moment you walk in the door the aroma of spices and homemade cooking fills the air. The warm greetings from the staff make you feel like you are visiting old friends.  The restaurant has only been open less than two months and it is already becoming a favorite. The establishment’s quick popularity is due in part to the spreading of positive word-of-mouth from the restaurant’s earliest diners.

The Brick Oven is owned and operated by Chris Angelos. He comes from a family of restaurateurs that have an impressive list of dining establishments beside their names. Angelos is quick to praise his family and their accomplishments and said, “I have been in the restaurant business all my life. My family has restaurants all over, like the Angelos Restaurant in Morristown, the Little Dutch and others. But while our restaurants are not affiliated, as a family we have been in the restaurant business for years.”

Angelos chose to open a restaurant in Lenoir City because he was enamored with the town’s potential and said, “I really like it here in this area. It’s beautiful. Lenoir City is growing and I just wanted to be a part of it. When I saw the building, I knew it would be perfect for an Italian restaurant and the people have been highly receptive of it.”

Potential diners shouldn’t confuse Angelos’ Brick Oven with other Brick Oven restaurants scattered around the country.  “This is a one-of-a-kind place,” informed Angelos. “There are a lot of Brick Oven restaurants out there, but this one is totally separate. There are even some favorite family recipes that have been passed down through the generations on the menu.”

Appetizers at The Brick Oven run from $4–$7 and include Italian Meatballs, Toasted Bruschetta, Fried Calamari Friti, the Italian Blooming Onion, Chicken Fingers, Buffalo Chicken Wings, Mozzarella Sticks, Fried Mushrooms, Cheese Fries and a Combo Platter. Salads prices start out at around $3 for the Tossed Garden Salad and Small Caesar Salad. Specialty salads such as the Shrimp Caesar and Fried Calamari Caesar Salad top out at a little under $8. Other salad options include the Chef Salad, Grilled Chicken or Fried Chicken Finger Salads, Greek Salad, Gyro Salad, the Brick Oven Salad Specialty and more.

The Brick Oven has a great selection of Lunch Specials that is offered Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. “Our lunch specials are very affordable and range from $5 to $7,” said Angelos. “We have Lasagnas, Spaghettis, Veal Parmesan, we have a nice ‘Soup of the Day’, Chicken Parmesan, Italian Chopped Steak, Eggplant Parmesan for the vegetarians, Stuffed Pasta Shells, Ziti Pasta, Fettuccini Alfredo, Baked Cannelloni and more.”

The Brick Oven’s vast menu is impressive with a full line of Subs, Gyro Sandwiches, Strombolis, Calzones, Pasta Dishes and grilled items such as Salmon, Sirloin Steak, Shrimp Scampi, Angus Beef Burgers and more. In a matter of weeks it appears that The Brick Oven is fast on its way to becoming the popular pizza choice in Lenoir City. “We do offer curb side delivery and yes, we are doing a lot of pizza business,” Angelos confirmed.

The Brick Oven offers a wide range of pizzas from create your own to specialty pizzas which include the Vegetarian, Primo Pepperoni, The Greek, Hawaiian Delight, Hungry Meat Madness, Brick Oven and the Taco Pizza to White Pizzas which include  Alfredo Florentine, Chicken Pizza, the White Pizza and Cheesy Alfredo. The Brick Oven also offers Stuffed and Sicilian Pizzas.

One area of the restaurant which is sure to be a favorite of adult guests is the bar. The Brick Oven offers a full bar and patio that is separated from the main restaurant dining area.  “We just opened the bar and it is fully stocked,” said Angelos. “A lot of people have been waiting to hear that the bar has opened.”

No matter the occasion or your appetite preferences, The Brick Oven is sure to please even the most discriminating palates. If you need a place to hold your next meeting, party, conference or event, there is a banquet room available. The room can be booked free of charge, but it is recommended that you reserve your spot well in advance.

The Brick Oven is located at 175 Kelsey Lane in Lenoir City, in the plaza next to the Home Depot and Wal-Mart shopping area. Restaurant hours are Sunday through Thursday 11 a.m.–10 p.m. and 11 a.m.–11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. You can reach Angelos’ Brick Oven by calling 865-988-9286.
